Increase Sales on Fourth of July Weekend

Jul. 24, 2015

Fourth of July weekend is the perfect summer opportunity to boost sales and get creative with displays, merchandising, and marketing efforts.

According to the National Retail Federation’s 2014 Independence Day Survey, more than 153 million consumers — nearly two-thirds of those celebrating — plan to observe the Fourth of July holiday with a cookout, barbecue or picnic, spending an estimated $6.2 billion ($68.16 per household). With the Fourth falling on a Saturday this year, both on and off premise establishments will benefit from increased traffic due to a long holiday weekend.

Whether you’re selling or serving, ensure you promote these all-American brands your patriotic consumers will be looking for.

Here are some other ways to celebrate success on America’s birthday...

  • Time your emails - If you’re emailing customers, make sure you do so within one week of the holiday (67% of email volume and 76% of email revenue occurs during this time for Fourth of July blasts) — get more email and SEO tips here
  • Keep beer front and center — We’re into grilling season, and beer will remain the top holiday selection until things cool off. It's the number one selection both overall and more specifically, across age and gender lines for Memorial Day weekend, the Fourth of July and Labor Day weekend.
  • Serve red, white, and blue — social media is a fantastic place to find holiday-inspired recipes. Click here for some from Pinterest to get you started!
